i’ll see your own florida psych-garage and raise you local florida psych-garage. ray knows these guys and i’ve been trying to put together a “we the people” tribute band but haven’t had much luck… might be because i want to name it “we, we the people.” but what am i, some marketing genius? (answer: of course i am) and dude, you know the song of one of these guys and blah blah blah… i own this original 45 you see in the picture - unless you have it and i don’t remember letting you borrow it. they also recently did a re-release on 180 gram a year or so ago… speaking of borrowing i’m pretty sure you have my original pressing of joy division peel sessions right? i distinctly remember letting you borrow that and then you were like, i’m totally not gonna give it back… right?

Oddly enough though, that record did sorta just land in my lap -not the way that you tell, but it was a kinda cosmic acquisition. An old friend literally (figuratively speaking) tossed about half a dozen amazing records from that time period at me and asked me if I wanted any of them -every one was just fucking mint and first pressing …Joy Division 12” singles, Bauhaus 12” singles, Tones on Tail -crazy cool shit! Anyway, I think I gave him $50 for the lot and said something like “yeah sure man, I mean if you don’t want them anymore” But my unfortunate friend, that was divine synchronicity, if you wanna get your little paws on a copy you’re gonna have to do the work and keep diggin -or there’s always ebay… hey look!, item # 170676609964. …all kidding aside EB, gimme my Pere Ubu record back and you can borrow it

this is one of my besties jt… he was in a band called “the band of the name.”  they are without a doubt in my top five bands of all time, ever - even like, time i’m not familiar with on some philip k dick, ray bradbury shit.  like, if someone was like “yo mr. brown (or if they were like yo encyclopedia - and i was like, that’s mr. brown to you, son. dont you know i’m a boy detective and shit?”) the concept that you understand to be time is actually something totally different than what you think it is and in fact you are like 7 years old, trees actually grow upside down but you just can’t tell, and that shirt makes your arms look short - nowwww name your top five favorite bands - i’d still be on some “band of the name” shit.

in fact, i might even more into band of the name… seriously.

**** at this point i’d like to interrupt this post to say that i just saw a full 30 second add for the kurt vile record on cable television… and i mean, i know it’s like 4 am… but still - kurt vile commercials. i remember the first time i heard modest mouse in a store somewhere and i wanted to kill myself… now i wanna kill myself for telling that story and don’t even bat an eye at kurt vile commercials on the tele.  fuck me i guess. ****

so anyhow, jt took a bunch of the individual instrument tracks from some band of the name recordings, remixed the living daylights out of them… and then shot this video.  in like an afternoon or something because he’s that dude that learned to play guitar by watching two prince videos, has been in 4 of my favorite bands because every idea he has is fucking genius, and then after being friends for years told me that he liked to paint every once in a while and dude is like, fucking unreal at that too.  he’s just that guy.  so yeah, i do believe this was actually made in one afternoon. but i just think it’s beautiful.

and yeah, i’ll post some BOTN just to give this some context.
